HigherU Launches Closed Beta for STEM Hopefuls

Santa Barbara, CA — HigherU, an AI-powered platform for tech career preparation, has launched its closed beta in light of positive user feedback during its exclusive alpha stage. The platform serves universities and prepares science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students for careers in the technology sector.

HigherU’s closed beta represents a pioneering effort to bridge the gap between the targeted learning of online tech bootcamps and the structured curriculum of standard universities. It aims to create an immersive, AI-assisted learning environment where students can gain both a professional and practical understanding of the industry they aspire to enter.

HigherU sets out to address the common struggles students face in seeking and leveraging structured guidance for successful technical interviews. The platform goes beyond student support. Extending its reach to universities, co-founder and COO Stefanie Yi Wang believes the platform serves as an online resource and tool that will assist graduates throughout their job-seeking process. By collaborating with partner schools to enhance job placement rates and student success, the company strives to elevate the reputation and ranking of these universities, helping them attract more prospective students.

The HigherU platform has three key features: the first being tailored lessons, which are customized to cater to a broad spectrum of technical careers. Co-founder and CTO Firas Obeid calls it "living integration”, which enables the company to update its curricula in real time based on a number of factors, such as students’ frequently asked questions and to date industry requirements. 

The second hallmark feature is the platform’s “Smart TA,” which guides students through complex problem-solving and facilitates personalized learning at their own pace. 

Finally and foremost among these features is HigherU’s proprietary “readiness score”, a comprehensive assessment that paints a clear picture of each user’s progress toward their goals and provides insights into their likelihood of securing positions at their desired companies. Though the platform is currently in a closed beta phase, users have observed an average improvement of approximately 60% within three months with the Readiness Score showing a 75% correlation with job placement success among users.
