Learning to Kitesurf Has Never Been Easier, Thanks to Kitesurf Technologies

What is kitesurfing - and why is it taking over right now?

Kitesurfing, also known as kiteboarding, is a thrilling water sport that combines elements of surfing, wakeboarding, and paragliding. The rider is pulled along by a large kite, which is attached to a harness worn around the waist, allowing them to ride on a board across the water's surface or through the air.

The sport has been growing in popularity in recent years, as it offers a unique and exciting way to enjoy the water and the wind. Unlike traditional water sports, such as surfing or wakeboarding, kitesurfing is not dependent on the size of the waves or the speed of a boat. With a kite, riders can create their own power and catch the wind wherever they go.

Kitesurfing also provides a sense of freedom and adventure, as riders can explore new places and experience the thrill of flying. The sport requires skill and practice, as well as the right equipment and training. For these reasons, unfortunately, some would-be kitesurfers find themselves held back from the excitement and adrenaline rush from the sport.

Kitesurfing Technologies aims to change that.

The company’s proprietary VR simulator is making the sport more accessible and inclusive by removing some of the barriers that prevent people from trying it in real life. For example, the simulator allows beginners to learn the basics of kitesurfing in a safe, controlled environment without the risk of injury or getting stranded in the water. It also provides an opportunity for people with disabilities or limited mobility to experience the thrill of kitesurfing.

Additionally, the simulator can be located in high-traffic areas such as malls, theme parks, and entertainment centers, making it easier for people to try kitesurfing without having to travel to a specific location. The company also plans to partner with kitesurfing schools to promote trips and further increase its reach in the industry, making kitesurfing a more inclusive sport for everyone.

The company’s founder and CEO, Gustavo Magalhães, has a personal mission to open up the sport to as many people as possible. “You don’t know how powerful the wind really is until you've tried kitesurfing," he says. “When a giant kite is pulling you through the waves at 12 knots, you’re playing by nature’s rules. Understanding that is key to understanding kitesurfing.”

He says that he created Kitesurfing Technologies to share his passion with the world. “Kitesurfing will transform how you connect with nature and everyone around you,” Magalhães shares. “Learning to kitesurf means learning to watch the moon, the tides, and the wind. You will feel like you’re part of the sunset and at the end of each day, you’ll find yourself smiling back at those dimming pink streaks in the sky.”

There are many practical reasons for people to get involved with the sport, as well. Kitesurfing can be a great workout, as it requires the use of many muscles and can burn up to 1000 calories per hour. It’s a social sport, as it often involves meeting other kitesurfers and sharing experiences and tips.

But for Magalhães and his team of kitesurfing enthusiasts, they do it for the love.

“At Kitesurf Technologies, we know the joy, thrill, and healing kitesurfing brings, and we want to share these with everybody who’s open to them … even when the weather isn’t great, you’re nowhere near the coast, or your schedule makes connecting with nature seem impossible. It is possible, and we’re here to show you how.”
