Base Healthcare Launches, Works to Educate on Testosterone Deficiency Across the United States

RALEIGH, N.C. – Current estimates are that 20 million men in America are hypogonadal, yet the majority do not realize their testosterone levels are low. There has been extensive research on hormonal imbalance, including its impact on the body, yet it remains a medical problem misunderstood by the general public. Testosterone levels in general have actually been decreasing since the 1970s and 1980s, due in part to increased  obesity rates from fast food or processed foods being consumed and generally increased stress levels. The U.S. along with most other developed nations have become metabolically unhealthy, and that is being reflected in testosterone levels. Approximately 39% of men 45 years and older have hypogonadism, so it impacts a larger percentage of the population than many people realize.

Base Healthcare, founded in 2022 by Shalin Shah and Himanshu Shah, has begun its mission to bring hormone optimization and foundational health to the forefront of healthcare. The company, which utilizes an FDA approved Oral Testosterone, is dedicated to raising awareness of the prevalence of testosterone deficiency, also known as hypogonadism, and to helping more men achieve adequate testosterone levels through testosterone therapy.

One of Base Healthcare’s biggest goals is to help more individuals understand both the symptoms of low testosterone as well as its possible medical risks. Men with hypogonadism typically experience fatigue, low energy, weight gain, lower muscle mass, low libido, decreased  bone density, depression, and anxiety. The potential downstream diseases, such as Type 2 Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Fatty Liver Disease, and many others, really compound the problems of a population with low testosterone.

“These symptoms can be difficult enough to manage, of course, and negatively impact your quality of life, but to slowly or silently deteriorate your long-term health is a whole other issue,” says Shalin Shah, CEO of Base Healthcare. “Low testosterone has also been shown to contribute to cardiovascular disease, type-2 diabetes, and other diseases. However, testosterone therapy over the long term may be able to reduce type-2 diabetes and even the incidence of prostate and colorectal cancers.”

Base Healthcare will work to increase its members’ understanding of hypogonadism; improve their sleep, stress levels, nutrition, and exercise; and provide its FDA-approved Oral Testosterone therapy. The company has built an innovative patient engagement platform for members to track their progress, whether through their blood work or through first-in-class face and body scanning technologies.

On the platform, members will find an easy-to-use dashboard, which allows them to track their health metrics through Base Healthcare’s smartphone-based scanning technology. Members can receive real-time data about their current health with metrics such as body composition, body circumference, blood pressure, respiration rate, and more. The goal is for each member to receive better insights into their overall health.

Base Healthcare’s FDA-approved oral testosterone therapy was designed to improve upon the current testosterone therapy options on the market. Previously, to get their testosterone levels back to a normal range, men could choose between testosterone gels, pellets, patches, or injections. While many delivered the results that patients sought, injections and pellets could be uncomfortable, patches were visible, gels could be messy, and pellets would lead to scarring all over the body. Orals could provide patients with an option they will find easier and more flexible and thus ultimately increase adherence and success in therapy.

“It is all part of our mission to bring attention to testosterone therapy as a preventative health measure,” says Shalin. “We are working to improve the quality of life for everyone with hypogonadism so that they feel better and stronger, both mentally and physically.”

Base Healthcare is a men’s virtual health platform that focuses on foundational health and optimization using an FDA-approved oral testosterone therapy and patient-centered health coaching.
