MLIFE Foundation Announces 2023 The Future is Human Symposium

San Francisco, CA - MLIFE, a nonprofit organization based in Kenya with a center in California, has released details about “The Future is Human Symposium”, returning from July 30-August 1, 2023, in Nakuru, Kenya, after a two-year hiatus. MLIFE launched The Future is Human Symposium in Vegas, Nevada, in 2017 with subsequent events held in Washington, DC, before its permanent relocation to Kenya in January 2019.

The 2023 Future is Human Symposium will feature guest speakers from the United States, United Kingdom, and Kenya. The Symposium theme will be unveiled in February 2023 during Black History Month.

The foundation just celebrated its 5-year anniversary, commemorating five years of supporting under-resourced children, mentoring high-impacting youth leaders, and amplifying the voices of historically excluded groups in an inclusive space of spirituality.

In addition, MLIFE just broke ground on its new Kenyan headquarters, which will be built in Juja, Kenya. The foundation headquarters will be a multifunctional center, serving not only as administrative offices for MLIFE, but also housing an integrated mental health center and accommodation facilities for visiting MLIFE partners, as well as serving as a Transitional Age Youth Hub. The MLIFE campus will be the first of its kind in East and Central Africa, and plans include an open auditorium with a proscenium stage, an art and music studio, a game room, and a clubhouse/ youth lounge with a Technology Academic Space.

MLIFE founder and CEO Moses Mukami began the foundation to promote a culture of literacy for impoverished children. “The World Bank defines learning poverty as the inability to read and write a simple sentence by age 10,” he says. “Over half of children globally experience learning poverty - and those numbers are significantly higher in emerging and developing countries - like Kenya.”

Formerly known as the Summer Leaders’ Summit (SLS), The Future is Human Symposium was created with the goal of connecting leaders and initiating a global movement toward addressing the complex and myriad challenges facing these leaders. The event will feature educational presentations, discussion panels, and provide more information on how individuals can create global change.

“The future is global. The future is us. The future is inward-looking. The future is human,” says Mukami. “These are the ideals we presented at the Summer Leaders’ Summit; these are the ideals we will present at The Future is Human Symposium. This is a networking opportunity, an educational opportunity, and a chance for ideas to be shared to promote real and sustainable change.”

Attendees will receive more information about MLIFE as well and receive education in the various programs that the foundation has created to meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the under-privileged. MLIFE supports two age-specific programs, The Learning Enrichment Acceleration Program (LEAP), which helps children read critically, think creatively, write clearly, and speak confidently; and The Leaders of Openness, Virtue, and Empathy (MLOVE), which provides guidance for older teens and college-age youths as they contemplate secondary education and employment.

Mukami shares that 65% of MLIFE’s budget is from past beneficiaries, demonstrating the program's impact, efficacy, and effectiveness. Every year, Americans give billions to charitable organizations; in 2020, for example, Americans donated a record $471 billion to charities. MLIFE uses the donations it receives to provide life essentials like food, water, and shelter to needy families, as well as to support its educational programs like LEAP and MLOVE.

“For me, success is about legacy,” he says. “It is more than having money and actualizing goals. It impacts future generations and creates paths from which others can flourish.”

More details about the upcoming The Future is Human Symposium will be made available on the MLIFE website in spring of 2023.

MLIFE is a US 501(c)3 faith-based charitable organization that serves underprivileged students and their families, providing food, water, shelter, and education through its Enrichment Acceleration Program (LEAP).
