New Bullying Buddy App Reports Bullying Data To The CDC

SMYRNA, Georgia – Tara Lynn Townes, anti-bullying activist, author, and behavioral therapist, has launched The Bullying Buddy App to challenge the nationwide bullying epidemic and to address the increasing number of preventable suicides caused by the effects of bullying.

According to recent statistics, an average of 4,400 children ranging in age from seven to fourteen commit suicide each year, with half of those suicides being directly related to bullying. In addition, 160,000 middle school students skip school every single day because they are afraid to go to school.

Townes, who has embarked on a mission to spread awareness and create real change through several anti-bullying campaigns and published works, says the patent-pending tracking technology featured within the app’s platform is a game-changing advancement that has been unavailable on the market until now.

The Bullying Buddy app allows bullying victims and bystanders to send instant alerts to parents and administrators. The emergency button within the app is manually or voice-activated and begins recording bullying instances immediately. Parents are able to send their students messages in real time. The videos are stored in an encrypted database and can be used to provide the CDC with the accurate data needed to move forward with anti-bullying bills in schools across the country.

With an estimated 50% of bullying incidents for school students across the United States occurring through cyberbullying, the app challenges this by capturing social media posts on platforms like Facebook and Instagram and informing them through the backend. Now, rather than waiting for the platform to remove the post, the Bullying Buddy app has patent-pending technology that is able to notify them about what is going on instantly.

To coincide with the app, Townes authored the “Be Brave” empathy-based curriculum that draws attention to the importance of diversity, and improving self-esteem.

Townes travels across the country to speak with local community leaders about bullying prevention. She has partnered with celebrities and professional athletes as part of her anti-bullying movement. She reveals that she will soon release STOMP: Stop Traumatizing Others Mentally Physically, the adult version of the Bullying Buddy App to help address corporate bullying, domestic violence, racial crimes, elder abuse, financial abuse, collegiate violations, human trafficking, and hate crimes.

The Bullying Buddy App is a resolution for bullying! Bullying Buddy supports the receiver, watcher, bully, teachers, policymakers, and parents by extending education, reporting tools, alerts, and a locator. For more information about Bullying Buddy, please visit its website or contact:
